Today, on Dr Stephanie Azri’s hub, we talked about the dreaded BOUNDARIES…
People either love them or hate them, but it shouldn’t be that anxiety-provoking. (For deeper info on boundaries and assertive communication, see Unlock Your Resilience and The REAL guide to life as a couple)
Anyway, to put it bluntly, there are THREE steps to a healthy boundaries. These are:
1- Decide what your boundary/boundaries should be
2- Let the people around you know what these are indeed
3- Defend your boundaries. Tooth and nail and with a butcher knife! (kidding kidding)
For many people, steps 1 and 2 are fairly easy. Most people know what they general want/stand for/agree with. But defending these, being assertive enough to fight for these is often another story. And yet, as I tell all the wonderful people I work with, without step 3, there are NO boundaries.
So my challenge to you today is this… How will you develop and maintain healthy boundaries?
I look forward to your answers 🙂
